Country music legend Loretta Lynn is three years older than she has led people to believe, an age change that undermines the story she told of being married at 13 in "Coal Miner's Daughter," documents obtained by The Associated Press show.
An image of the birth certificate of country music legend Loretta Lynn, who was born Loretta Webb, is seen in an image provided by the Kentucky state Office of Vital Statistics. Newly discovered documents indicate country music legend Loretta Lynn is three years older than she has led people to believe, a change that casts shadows on the story told in "Coal Miner’s Daughter.” The birth certificate on file at the state Office of Vital Statistics in Frankfort, Ky., shows that Loretta Webb was born on April 14, 1932, in Johnson County, Kentucky. That makes her 80 years old, not 77, as numerous books and other references claim her to be, based on her widely-accepted birth year of 1935. The record was filed in 1965. - AP Photo - Kentucky state Office of Vital Statistics
